Planting the Peace Forest Festival
A fun-filled event for the whole family!

As part of COS's community outreach, we have created this inspiring September 11th event at the Pool Wildlife Sanctuary called "Planting the Peace Forest Festival." At the festival in 2004, thirty-five oak trees were planted by members of the community as "a living prayer that we leave the planet healthy, safe and beautiful for the generations to come."
For Planting the Peace Forest 2006, our theme will be "Honoring Multi-Cultural and Multi-Horticultural Life." In 2006, a grove of various species of trees will be planted as a living metaphor of how we are stronger as a people in our diversity just as the natural world is healthiest and strongest in its biodiversity. Activities will include a Native American fire-making demonstration, a spiral dance led by grandmothers from different cultures wearing traditional costumes, and a performance by children enacting stories from around the world.
